SKEGSS SHARE NEW SINGLE + VIDEO ‘BUNNY MAN’
OUT NOW VIA LOMA VISTA RECORDINGS / VIRGIN MUSIC AUSTRALIA
Skegss return with new single ‘Bunny Man’ – an ode to the band’s tour manager, guitar tech, photographer, driver and friend Bunny Man, and all of their hardworking crew that have been largely out of work for the past 18 months.
Toby, who helms lead vocals on ‘Bunny Man’, says: “I know it’s kind of over the top sentimental, but who gives a fuck? These people are the best. Bunny Man goes to extreme lengths to help people out. When I sent him the demo of the song he said that he cried happy tears, and that made me so happy. He’s had a really tough couple of years because of the lack of gigs, so if this song got him to feel good for a moment, then that’s all that matters to me.”
The video, co-directed by Toby and frequent Skegss video collaborator Jaimeson Kerr, sees the band sharing the song with Bunny Man for the first time, and also shouts out the band’s full touring crew (have some tissues handy). Net proceeds from Bandcamp digital sales and sales of the accompanying “Bunny Man” t-shirts from today through December 1st, 2021 will be donated to the band’s crew. The release also aligns with this month’s Bandcamp Friday with the platform waiving its fees for 24-hours.
In conjunction with the release of ‘Bunny Man’, the song’s muse David “Bunny” Herington also shares his new photobook, chronicling his life working and touring with many local bands from previous years on the road. Titled Bunny, the book features excerpts from Herington, Shane Parsons (DZ Deathrays) and Toby Cregan (Skegss) with intimate photographs captured on the road with Dune Rats, Skegss, DZ Deathrays, Ruby Fields, Parcels, Tasman Keith, Hockey Dad, Pist Idiots, Ecca Vandal and Pup. Bunny by David Herington is available for pre-order here.
New music follows Skegss’ acclaimed LP Rehearsal, which debuted at #1 on Australia’s ARIA Album and Vinyl sales chart with first week sales. Released late March via Loma Vista Recordings, Rehearsal earned the trio of Toby, Ben Reed (vocals, guitar), and Jonny Lani (drums) their first cover story at NME Australia, while its singles collectively earned early praise and support from Consequence, DIY, Rolling Stone Australia (‘Song You Need to Know’) and more.
The band will take Rehearsal and a whole bunch of their classics to the stage, with their national album tour kicking off on December 18, presented by triple j. The lads will be joined by PIST IDIOTS, and reunited with their crew, at long last.
