Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago have continued their rise as a dynamic duo, rocking a mix of saxophone and DJ sets. Lovely Laura has been captivating audiences for over 10 years with her talents and they’ve recently joined forces to take their act all over the world playing shows in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and America.

Having already set festival stages ablaze with their appearances at Tomorrowland, We Are FSTVL, Creamfields and TWSTD, they also sold out their show at the Manchester Albert Hall last year.  The duo will be playing a string of tour dates this summer, including a residency at Ibiza Rocks. They?ll also be launching their own summer party LaCasa at the Island Beach Club in Mallorca from August.

We caught up with the talented duo to ask a few questions on how they got to where they are today, their tips on Ibiza and what’s next!

When did you start playing together?

We first started playing together at the Hed Kandi events about ten years ago. Strictly speaking we were not really a duo then, but we would always spend a lot of time together working on music etc, only to give another DJ the set list. In the end we realised we could deliver a much more polished performance by becoming a duo. The rest as they say is history.

What’s the favourite cover that you play live?

LL: It has to be Jubel by Klingande! I just have to play the first few notes and everyone goes crazy.

Favourite spots on the Island to relax before/after a gig?

We love Sa Talaia. The nature in Ibiza is stunning and Sa Talaia is the highest point in Ibiza with panoramic views of the island.

What are your Food & drink recommendations in Ibiza?

Depends what you?re looking for, but Bambuddha is very consistent and always a great night. Another favourite for the best burgers on the island is Pennsylvania Burger where we cannot seem to keep away from!

Bambuddha is is a restaurant temple, fusing spirituality with sexuality, located in the heart of Ibiza.

Did you ever think that your musical talent would take you to where you are, playing consistently to big crowds at Ibiza rocks?

LL: Wow, no way! My initial plan was to finish my Jazz degree in Leeds and then head to London and do a Post Graduate course at the Guildhall, however I started jamming with DJs whilst I was studying in Leeds and it really took off. I soon realised that I could actually earn a living from doing this – needless to say I still haven’t made it to The Guildhall!

What’s next?

We never know what’s round the corner, we are the kind of people that go with the flow. However, after this busy summer we have decided to take some time out this coming winter for us – something that we’ve not done for many years so we’re pretty excited.

It’s all about the work / life balance and we definitely have some catching up to do on the life part!

You can catch the duo in action this summer in Ibiza and Mallorca as well as other dates, found here!
