FRED FALKE AND ZEN FREEMAN JOIN FORCES AGAIN FOR ‘MAKE ME FEEL’ FEATURING THE LEGENDARY MACY GRAY

Having teamed up in 2020 for their disco-tinged single ‘Underground’, legendary French producer Fred Falke and LA’s Zen Freeman have joined forces once again, this time bringing along the one and only Macy Gray for the ride. Their new collaboration ‘Make Me Feel’ is an instant house classic, powered by live bass, retro synthesizers, and nineties drum machines, it nods to turn-of-the-century French house with a straightforward, yet unshakable groove and with Macy’s unmistakable and distinctive vocal stylings making it a match made in dancefloor heaven. This single paves the way for much more to come from Fred and Zen.

“We met Macy years ago whilst DJing at an Oscar party in Hollywood and we became good friends,” says Freeman. “We ended up DJing a few gigs together and quickly realized that she was into house music.  We wrote ‘Make Me Feel’ over a cup of tea at our studio in LA with some of Fred’s chords as inspiration.”

Since his ground-breaking debut on the electro scene, Fred Falke has developed a unique sound. A prolific artist, he writes and produces music, not to mention his numerous remixes. Having started his musical career playing bass, he turned to production in 2000. He then sets up a duo with Alan Braxe: their seminal track Intro goes on to sell half a million copies. Many remixes follow; from Jamiroquai and Justice, to Röyksopp and Death From Above 1979, Fred Falke works with the biggest electro-pop artists and bands, navigating from one genre to another with one goal only: to create genuine, modern yet timeless electro-pop songs.

Zen Freeman, London-raised and Los Angeles-based, has spent a lifetime spinning records. His musical versatility has placed him as the DJ and curator for fashion giants Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani, and top publications Vogue and Vanity Fair. He has served as music supervisor for global luxury brands Cartier, Burberry, Louis XIII and Soho House. As a producer, Zen has generated millions of streams, he releases music on highly respected labels. Among these, astrx, Fly Eye Recordings, Rising Music, Mad Decent, and Defected Records. His productions have seen support from the likes of Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Diplo, Fedde Le Grand, Bob Sinclar, Don Diablo, Nora En Pure, and Horse Meat Disco.

Macy Gray has been a fundamental figure within the global music scene since her breakout record ‘I Try’ in 1999. A Grammy award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and multiple platinum certifications for the parent album, On How Life Is, followed shortly thereafter. Gray went on to build a sizeable and unpredictable discography that included gutsy original material, bold covers and collaborations with the likes of Fatboy Slim, Black Eyed Peas and Slick Rick.
