Conor Albert today announces the release of a new project entitled ‘Collage 2’ and shares its first single “Moonlight” (ft. Mac Ayers). ‘Collage 2’ will unfold across the upcoming months, with a release date due later this year. It follows Conor’s 2020 debut EP ‘Collage 1’ and his recent collaborative EP with UK singer Alice Auer, ‘Smile’.
New single “Moonlight” is a glistening slice of disco-pop and arrives today ahead of a momentous sold-out headline show at London’s Jazz Cafe this evening (16th June).
Of the new single, Conor said: “In October 2020 I got a message from Mac on TikTok of all places. I’d been posting a beat every day and he had stumbled across one of mine on his For You Page. He messaged me and asked for a beat that later became “Nothing Else” on Mac’s latest album. After that we had a very-late-night Zoom session where Mac and I chatted for hours and made zero music. Right at the end I sent him a demo of a disco inspired beat I’d made a couple days prior with my good mate Harry Greene, who’s an incredible musician. He liked it and within a few days sent me all the vocals and then it was up to me to finish the track! In this track I take a much more old school producer role, where I’m actually not playing many instruments and instead enlisting the help of my musician friends. Aside from Harry who plays the Prince-inspired guitars and wrote the main riff with me, my close friend Seth Tackaberry played bass on the track. Seth is a BEAST and he has some crazy moments in the very last chorus, it was an honour to have him playing on the track. Lastly Matilda Mann sings BV’s on the tune. She has such an incredible tone that takes the track to another level!”
“Moonlight” follows a whirlwind 6 months for Conor, where his social channels have seen a huge increase in followers as a result of his ingenious beat videos, collaborating with acts including Priya Ragu, Disclosure, Tom Misch, Zak Abel, Maya Delilah and more along the way.
His next project ‘Collage 2’ is a continuation of the work that began with debut EP ‘Collage 1’ but presents a confident and hugely exciting step up. Speaking on what fans should expect this year, Conor added: “The next 6 months are gonna be filled with loads of new music with a greater focus on collaboration, even more than on Collage 1. I’m enlisting the help of all the new friends I’ve made over the last year to make the best possible project I can. I’m super excited.”
21 year-old Conor Albert is a South London based artist, songwriter and producer. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist he started making beats at the age of 8, finding an audience for his early demos on SoundCloud. It was listening to FKJ and Jordan Rakei whilst learning piano in his teens that encouraged him to make soulful, jazz influenced music.
Conor demonstrated his musicianship and production across his 2020 debut ‘Collage 1’, including singles with Marie Dahlstrøm and Carmody. A frequent collaborator, he established a creative partnership with rising talent Alice Auer on joint project ‘Smile’. Now with over 5 million accumulative streams across the two EPs, the music has been championed by BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders’ Future Artists, Sian Elery’s Chillest Show), BBC Radio 2 (Jamie Cullum), as well as key tastemaker press including The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, EARMILK, New Wave Magazine, Vogue Paris and more.
Conor’s playing and beatmaking, showcased via his series of compelling loop videos has earned him more than 125K followers, caught the attention of Questlove, Jacob Collier and Zane Lowe and seen him connect with fellow musicians Tom Misch, Disclosure and Mac Ayres.
Conor Albert’s new project ‘Collage 2’ will slowly unfold as the year progresses, with more collaborations to be announced soon. New single “Moonlight” (ft. Mac Ayers) is out now via Young Poet Records.
