Sydney-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Billy Fox shares melancholic melody ‘Hurry Up And Crush Me’, premiered via Milky yesterday.
His first release since 2019, the track showcases his technical strength in production and ability to create emotive soundscapes. ‘Hurry Up And Crush Me’ conjures up visions of fleeting romances and explores themes of human nature and relationships. “At some point, we will either be hurt or do the hurting and although on face value you might argue these songs could be quite bleak in thematic nature, if you dig a little deeper they are really about acceptance, reflection and betterment,” says Billy.
Noting inspirations from Bon Iver, Frank Ocean and James Blake, Billy broke into the scene in 2016 with ‘East Coast’ where he found his place in the industry and quickly followed up with his innovative track ‘Avalanche’ and later, his compelling 7 track EP Lung. Over his career, he has played to packed shows as well as supporting the likes of internationally acclaimed artist such as Glass Animals, The Aston Shuffle, THUMPERS, Boo Seeka, Tash Sultana and many more.
With the emotional stirring ‘Hurry Up And Crush Me’ and two more singles on the way, we can expect a myriad of sounds and concepts from the Sydney artist.
